Preparing the Area to Fix

  • Clean and dry the area on the pipe with the hole or crack to be fixed
  • Sand the area surrounding the hole or crack as per directions of the epoxy putty
  • Dust or wipe off any debris left around the hole or crack on the pipe for the adhesive

After preparing the part of your pipe that has a hole or crack, you can start preparing the adhesive for the repair.

Preparing the JB WaterWeld Epoxy Putty Stick for Use

  • Wear gloves for protection before opening the adhesive stick
  • Peel off top cover and plastic covering to access adhesive
  • Cut off a piece of adhesive from the stick that will cover the hole or crack you’re fixing
  • Mix and blend the adhesive using your hands until you only have one color
You will see different colors of epoxy that need to be blended together before application.

The JB WaterWeld Epoxy Putty Stick has two kinds of adhesives in it – a darker gray adhesive in the middle surrounded by a white adhesive around it. In order to achieve it’s maximum capacity, you need to blend them together before application.

Blend the putty until the putty becomes one solid color.

Applying the JB WaterWeld Epoxy Putty Stick for Repairs

  • Place the piece of adhesive you’ve prepared on the hole or crack on your pipe
  • Make sure that the immediate areas near the hole or crack are covered
  • Once in place, let the epoxy putty dry for 15-25 minutes
Apply the blended JB Waterweld epoxy to hole.

JB WaterWeld Epoxy Putty can withstand up to 4300 PSI and 250°F. Once it dries up, the adhesive hardens and becomes solid, which you can then sand and paint over as necessary.

Checking the Coverage After Drying

  • Test the pipe repaired with JB WaterWeld Epoxy Putty Stick as necessary
  • Monitor the water coming through the pipe and check for any leaks
