Supplies
You don’t need a lot for this and you might already have some of the items. In a nutshell you are going to remove the cabinets, clean and paint them.
Here’s what you will need:
Cleaning supplies
Soap – Dawn dish soap or other soap that will remove grease
Scouring Pad – Used to remove dirt, grease and debris
Towels – For cleaning and drying
Tools
Electric driver or screwdriver
Paint and Painting supplies
Paint – Pick your perfect color.
Brushes – You will need at least 1 paint brush
Rollers – You will need at least 1 roller
Paint tray – 1 will be plenty
Once you have all of your supplies and you’re ready to get started you will start by prepping the cabinets.
Prepping The Laminate Cabinets for Painting
The prep for this is really easy unless the cabinets are damaged in any way. Here is the rundown:
Remove the cabinet doors

Remove the hardware from the cabinet doors and frame. Place in a plastic bag.
Clean the doors and frames. Be sure they are free of any dirt, grease, food or liquid.
Once clean, dry completely before applying paint.
That’s it! Once the doors are clean and dry you are ready to paint.
Painting the Laminate Cabinets
This part is easy but will take a few coats. Start by painting one side of the cabinet doors and the edges.

While that is drying. Paint the frame of the cabinets and the fronts.

Here you will go back and forth applying a couple coats of paint.
I applied 3 coats total.
Once the laminate is completely covered you will need to wait a couple hours for it to dry before you can paint the opposite side.
Once the paint is dry you can flip the cabinet doors and paint the opposite side.
Again, apply about 3 coats and wait for the paint to completely dry.
After the paint is dry you can re-attach the hardware and put the doors back on the cabinets. If you want to add any handles this would be a good time before putting the doors back in place.
