How to Paint Laminate Cabinets No Sanding or Priming

Here you will learn how to paint laminate cabinets with no sanding or priming. This was an easy project that can be completed in a single day. The amount of supplies needed for this are minimal and can be purchased at most local hardware stores. Links are at the end.

  1. Clean Cabinets.

Clean Cabinets

First clean the cabinets inside and out including the doors. Depending on the current condition this can take a few minutes. Use degreaser as needed to clean the surfaces. Make sure all the surfaces you will be painting are clean and dry.

Prep for Painting

Prepping for paint will include removing the doors and hardware on the doors.

Here I take the doors off the cabinet and remove the hardware.

When painting these laminate cabinets I used about 3 coats. I waited about 1 hour to dry in between coats.

You will go back and forth from the doors and the frame adding a coat of paint while the other is drying.

Finally once you have painted the cabinet doors and frame you will add the hardware back and replace the doors.
